Factory details
Since 1974 the company has built up an enviable reputation as a leading Scottish Seafood supplier of quality products including whole scampi, peeled scampi, king and queen scallops.
Our
development of the Sco-Fro and Lochalsh overseas has resulted in Sco-Fro
(Lochaber) achieving Food from Britain Scottish Food Exporter of the Year
2003 Award.
Historically Sco-Fro's main shellfish production has been focused around
whole scampi, known in France as Langoustine and in Spain as Cigalas. Sales
of this item are generally around 2000 metric tonnes per annum sourced from
most ports from the West and East coast of Scotland. Sco-Fro whole scampi
(Langoustine) is recognised in Spain, France, Italy and Japan as one of
the leading brands in foodservice supply and is sold by major supermarket
chains and wholesalers in Europe.
Our production
facility in Fort William was opened in 1994 and has achieved EFSIS accreditation.
Our modern factory is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the
Scottish Highlands, close to the crystal clear waters of Loch Linnhe and
within sight of Ben Nevis, Scotland's largest mountain. In addition to this
we have a buying office on the quay side in Oban co-ordinating supplies
the key fishing grounds in that area.
We believe in a high standard of staff training which contributes to Sco-Fro's
dedication to offering consistant quality. Every factory worker has completed
a Food Handlers Hygiene Course, certified by the Royal Society of Health
and many are qualified in the Scottish Vocational Qualification Scheme specifically
geared to our industry and developed and monitored by our Senior Technical
Manager.
The
factory also complies with full HACCP procedures and has regularly earned
the Seafish Industry Authority Processor Quality Award.
